Property at a Glance: Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs

The heart and soul of Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs is its 79,000-square-foot indoor water park. Splashy rides such as the Howlin’ Tornado—an enclosed water slide that shoots you through a six-story funnel—and a zero-depth-entry wave pool with 3-foot swells surround the park’s iconic hub: a four-story treehouse with a huge tipping bucket. Younger kids will have a blast with the water slides and gentle spray features of Whooping Hollow and Cub Paw Pool.

The water park, which hovers around 84 degrees all year long, isn’t the resort’s only family-friendly activity. You’ll also find Howl in One Mini Golf, mini bowling at Ten Paw Alley, and an indoor ropes course and climbing wall.

  • Extended water park access: You can enter the water park at 1 p.m. on the day you check in and stay until close on the day you check out (essentially 2 days’ water park admission).
  • Family-friendly fun: Enjoy games and activities for kids of all ages. Explore all activities by age group here.
  • Hands-on crafts and activities such as face painting and balloon twisting during the Lunch Time Lineup can entertain young children when they want a break from the water park action.
  • Roomy suites comfortably sleep up to five people. Some suites provide extra privacy with enclosed bunk beds.
  • Climb through obstacles and balance on rope bridges 30 feet off the ground at the indoor Howlers Peak Ropes Course.
  • Fuel up with food and drinks at eight restaurants and snack bars.
  • Add a Paw Pass or Pup Pass to your stay to enjoy kid-friendly activities and sweets at Build-A-Bear Workshop, Oliver’s Mining Co., and more at a discounted rate. See everything that’s included—as well as other available packages—here (additional fees apply).
  • Safety first: Complimentary life jackets in multiple sizes and trained lifeguards help keep families safe and secure.
  • Distance from Denver: about a one-hour drive

Dank, Dark, Completely Charmless Waste of Money (LOTS of money!) My partner and I stopped here on our way home from Denver, as we had planned on taking all the kids and grandkids for a visit this fall. We walked around this miserable dark dank warehouse (in hellish concrete/asphalt concrete jungle of commercial businesses just off the freeway) for about twenty minutes, and we couldn't get out of there fast enough -- into the fresh air and glorious sunshine. Just watch the "walkthrough" video on YT before you consider planning a visit there, and you'll see that the best thing to do at GWL is watch videos of anywhere else! Plus, some guy tried to sell us a Hilton timeshare as we ran for the door. NEVER!!!!!

Amazing staff, dated location No complaints but read this review for people who hop locations seeking out GWLs. It’s dated and has version 2 of the magic quest, not their fault but we had to buy a new wand just to do the things or it wiped our new progress completion on the tree quests. The water park was probably the second smallest of 8 we have visited but was adequate and out of the 4 slides three are high thrill and amazing. So props for substance in small spaces. Arcade small, putt putt old, bowling 3/4 the lanes of a new one. Glad we didn’t spend more than one night here since that would be adequate. But it had the best lobby view of any of the hotels we’ve been too with the moutains. Expect high prices like all of the locations, but it’s always worth it for our daughter’s happiness.

Frustrated I recently stayed at Great Wolf Lodge and feel it’s important to share my experience, especially for those planning a trip. I prepaid for my overnight stay and provided my credit card at check-in for incidentals. After checking out, I noticed unexpected charges on my bank statement, including a parking fee, even though parking was never mentioned as an additional charge during booking or check-in. Even more concerning was an $82 charge for towels—despite the Great Wolf Lodge website clearly stating that towels are included with your stay, particularly for water park use. I was told by staff that I could take towels to my room, only to be charged later for doing exactly that. When I tried to resolve these issues, it took three phone calls and over two hours on hold just to speak with someone at the front desk. When I finally got through, the representative was dismissive and acted as if the charges were my fault—despite the lack of clear communication or signage explaining these fees. While the resort offers fun for families, the hidden charges and poor customer service were a major disappointment. If you plan to visit Great Wolf Lodge, I strongly recommend asking for a complete list of potential fees at check-in and reviewing your bill closely before departure. Transparency and respectful customer service should be a priority, and I hope the company makes changes to better support its guests in the future.
