Good until a stranger walked into my room We stayed one night (10/27-10/28) in a Loft Suite. Myself, my husband and 3 and 4 year old kids. The room was dated but was spacious and clean. Having the additional half bath was great. Our room was ready on time. We got ready for the pool as soon as we got settled. Overall, the indoor park was great for my kids. There were smaller slide options, shallow pools, they loved the lily pad leap, and plenty of chairs. Not as large as Castaway Bay or Kalahari but just right for a fun short trip. Everyone was pleasant and friendly from check in towel desk and lifeguards. After the waterpark closed, my kids loved the story time in the main lobby. Getting back to the room and undoing the beds for the first time, we had one bed with dirty sheets. Annoying, but not the end of the world. We were brought new sheets very quickly and changed the bed ourselves. The next morning, we grabbed breakfast at Dunkin Donuts in the lobby. Our plan was to eat, pack up and head to the pool. Check out was at 11 but we planned to stay after checkout at the water park. Around 9 am, we were finishing breakfast and a man came walking into our room. Literally Just opened the door and walked in. Scared the hell out of me. My husband shouted at him and he turned and walked out saying something. I was in shock for a second but then opened the door and saw him walking walking fast down the hallway. I yelled after him and asked what the hell he was doing. He said he worked there and was supposed to be working on the air conditioner in the room next to us. He had nothing on that said his name or Great Wolf Lodge. I asked if he was supposed to be in the room next door, why is he running down the hallway away from said room? I asked his name (Jeff) and again asked why the hell he just walked into my room?! He mumbled a few other things and ran off. I WAS SHAKING. I called th front desk immediately. They said they would have a manager in touch. I of course then started to think of every horrible scenario… what if I was upstairs in the bathroom and my kids were on the bed watching Bluey when this man just came in?! Did seeing my husband scare him off? Did he follow me up from Dunkin Donuts? Then I start to think of people who access to the rooms and what they could be doing in there (installing cameras). Literally making me sick thinking of what could happen and how vulnerable we actually were in a place where I had felt totally safe. The manager, Vanessa, called and invited me to come down and speak to her. She offered us a free late check out. I told her, I’m not looking for anything. I want someone to make me feel better about the situation. She assured me it had been addressed and said their policy is to knock 3 times, announce themselves and should always have a name tag on. None of that happened. She said she knew that and the employee told her his name tag was on his jacket that he had taken off. Vanessa was polite and understanding and honestly, just in a no win situation. There is no apology that would make me feel safe going back to Great Wolf Lodge. I don’t know this person, maybe it was a mistake but there’s also a chance that it wasn’t and I would never want to put my family in that situation again.

Expensive, but Fun, Fun, Fun Overall a great couple of days, with lots of fun. My son made some friends and really enjoyed himself at the Great Wolf Lodge. Pros: Our son had lots of fun in the water park and events held throughout the day. He loved the dance party every evening at 9 PM. There is an arcade and bowling alley. There is enough food choices available that you never have to leave the building. The prices aren’t too bad. If you get sick of that food, there are plenty of food options within minutes. The beds are pretty comfortable. The rooms are clean. The Pup Pass was a good deal, which allowed for some free items and a discount to the onsite Build a Bear. Cons: Pre-check in didn’t work on my phone. And then when we got there and tried to check in on one of the self service kiosks, it didn’t work either. We had to go up to the desk, where only one person was working & another front desk staff was enjoying a conservation with someone at the end of the counter, not a guest. Extremely expensive unless you can find a deal online. My wife got it down to $106/night but it was during the week. We checked some weekend prices and they were ridiculous. There is someone who offers you a free family picture in a Photo Booth, but then tries to sell you on a Hilton time share. He wasn’t pushy, but something to keep your eye on. Notes: The meet & greet for the Wolf Pack are only one character each time. Our room had a fridge, but no microwave. The wristbands are used as keys to get into the room and to also charge to the room. I would be worried that some older kids might be able to rack up some expensive bills.

A Pleasant Stay This was not our first time staying at Great Wolf Lodge but our first time at this location. Overall, it was a wonderful stay! The rooms haven't been updated in a while and that is obvious based on the lack of power outlets. It is also the first hotel room I've been in in a long time that didn't have one of those bowed-out shower curtain rods. It's just straight across and it's amazing the amount of elbow room those bowed out rods give you. We had a loft suite which maybe the only way we'll go from now on at Great Wolf Lodge. With the vaulted ceiling, I think these suites are all on the top floor so we didn't have to worry about any noise above us. The only downside as far as our room went is the balcony overlooked all the water park machinery and was so noisy it was unusable. We requested more towels and washcloths twice and they were brought to us quickly. Another night we had a clogged toilet and maintenance showed up fast and the guy was very friendly. Housekeeping stopped by one morning to ask if we needed anything and gave us her name and told us she'd be on the floor that day if we did need something. The water park itself is small compared to the other Great Wolf Lodge we've stayed at, but our kids aged 13 and 11 still have a lot of fun. It felt like several of the splashing mechanisms on the big water fort were broken or not working properly but all the slides ran perfectly fine. Lifeguards were everywhere and seemed very attentive. Each visit to the water park when we picked up our towels, we were told to make sure to scan our wristband when we left and dropped the towels off. We didn't eat anything at the lodge. We either went out or made meals in our room using groceries bought from Meijer next door, which I even walked to one morning when we needed something. The parking fee seems random and unnecessary and while they try to upsell you, those texts were very easy to ignore. Overall, our stay was very pleasant. Most of the staff we encountered were very friendly. I don't know that we'll be back to the this Great Wolf Lodge simply because the one in Mason is much closer to us, but it was still a nice stay!
