Phoenix, Arizona: Bustling Metropolis and Native American Culture Surrounded by Desert

Phoenix enjoys about 300 days of sunshine a year, which has helped it to balloon into the sixth-largest city by population in the United States. It's also 1 of only 12 US cities with at least four major sports teams: the Arizona Cardinals, the Phoenix Suns, the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the Phoenix Coyotes.

Though the topography of the Phoenix area is all desert, it's by no means desolate. Camelback Mountain is a designated city park area with scenic trails that wind past boulders and red-sandstone formations; climb to the very top for a view of the entire city. Or hit the themed trails at the Desert Botanical Garden filled with southwestern flora such as huge sonoran cacti and other moisture-hoarding succulents. Either way, plan hikes in the early morning or twilight hours to catch the most stunning sunlit views and stay cool.

For an in-depth look at the cultures of Arizona’s indigenous population, browse the 12 exhibition galleries and sculpture garden at the Heard Museum. The collection’s nearly 40,000 pieces of art range from 500 Hopi katsina dolls to a full-size Pueblo oven. In nearby Scottsdale, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West was the renowned prairie-style architect’s winter home as well as a campus for his architecture school.

The woman at the front desk was fabulous! Only thing I noticed that was an issue for me was the very hard rough sheets. Besides that everything was great!

It was a nice clean and and spacious room. Only complaint is they had trouble finding my room from ordering on Groupon and the desk lady wasn’t the friendliest about it. But otherwise, stay was great!

Check-in took a bit as they could not find the reservation even with my phone verification. The room was clean save for a dead fly on the phone and had a nice bed, bathroom, and desk area. The A.C. had peeled sticker debris making hard to see the text by the buttons. There was a sports team in the hotel and loud noise was off and on through the night and an occasional smell of Marijuana in the halls. There was a breakfast and the lobby was very clean as was the pool and gym area. Checkout took some time as Housekeeping was staffing the desk as I had to wait for a desk clerk to return which took a bit as they were away. More care needed to be done on noise control and the check-in which was explained to me by the nice clerk at arrival as due to a new system and only purchasing our Groupon two days prior.

Good stay option Stayed at this hotel when my family was checking out a NASCAR race in early March. It was a bit far away from the track but it was the best price option since all the hotels in the area were charging a crazy amount. Overall it was a good place to stay. No complaints.

Run down, below Hampton standards. We are long-time loyal Hilton members who have stayed at Hampton Inn for over 40 years. We stayed at this Hampton during an LPGA tournament in Chandler. By far, this hotel did not live up at all to the Hilton brand standards. Old, tired and needing an update. Breakfast was below par from typical breakfast. Food not restocked, no bananas or apples, had to ask the orange juice to be restocked. Poor attention to detail. Will not be staying here again.

Go somewhere else - uncaring staff Stayed here and requested a disabled room on 1st floor. They put me on the 2nd floor so I asked to change and got 1st floor but not disabled room. The sheets on the bed had gray stains on them. They had no bottled water. The room was spacious. Just before 5am I got woke up by a loud noise and couldn't figure out what it was - well it was the bathroom ceiling leaking and the bathroom was flooded so I couldn't use it- called front desk they said they could move me upstairs but just had surgery and that wouldn't work - then informed no one could look at it to later. So I checked out at 7am the staff couldn't care less. The manager offered 1200 points what a joke and then they implied they count get it to leak again making it sound like it wasn't - as you can see from the pic it was pouring out - I will reach out to Hilton - but skip this place after reading the reviews I wish I had seen them first and gone somewhere else
