Orlando, Florida: World-Famous Theme Parks and Cultural Surprises

Located in the center of Florida, Orlando may be forever associated with the Walt Disney World® Theme Parks—the world’s most-visited entertainment resort. Spanning roughly 30,000 acres, it encompasses four theme parks, two water parks, five golf courses, and the Downtown Disney® Marketplace. There’s no shortage of things to do here: begin your day by boarding a rocket-shaped three-seater that climbs to 180 feet before entering a deep black tunnel and racing past stars, satellites, and constellations. Walk across the park to sample Moroccan cuisine for lunch, or ride a dune buggy through a haunted mansion. Before heading back to the hotel, take in the nightly fireworks, laser, and water show. One of the most popular family destinations in the world, sunny Orlando is also home to Universal Orlando—which includes The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—SeaWorld, and Gatorland.

Those hoping to shake up the typical theme-park-dominated itinerary can head into downtown Orlando’s vibrant arts district. The neighborhood boasts venues such as CityArts Factory, a multifaceted patchwork of gallery spaces, and SAK Comedy Lab, which hosts family-friendly improv shows five nights a week.

About a 10-minute drive north, you’ll find eight cultural institutions at Loch Haven Park, including the Orlando Museum of Art, which houses work by Georgia O’Keeffe, Robert Rauschenberg, Ansel Adams, and Andy Warhol. The park is also home to the Orlando Shakespeare Theater, the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orlando Science Center, where you can a rover across a simulation of Mars or race on a 70-foot pinewood derby track.

Nasty and staff if unwilling to help Don at the front desk who checked us in was extremely rude. When we got to our room it smelled like smoke and we noticed we had no wash clothes. We called and asked Don if we could get some wash clothes and he said no that house keeping was gone so there was nothing he could do but he would leave a note. We tried to call the front desk the next morning and they would not answer. Went down and they said they had no wash clothes that they would send house keeping. I tried to let them know that we could not get any help the night we checked in but the lady didn’t care. Would never stay here again. The rooms are dirty they smell of cigarette smoke. This holiday inn needs to be shut down!!!

Gross I would never stay here again. The best part about this hotel is the outside. Once inside the people are rude. The rooms are small and gross looking. The whole hotel smells of something I can't put a finger on. Stay far far fat away from this place

Dangerous moisture levels The moisture levels in this hotel are dangerously high. Our luggage was moist when we checked out a day early. My skin was sticky all night. The bed, sheets, floors...all moist. The lampshade had rust underneath it from the moist atmosphere. Most uncomfortable stay i have ever had. I could not wait to check out. We asked for a new room and the management told us all the rooms have moisture issues......if all the rooms have moisture issues you need to treat the rooms and find the underlying cause.
