The Scouting Report
The distance between Rosemont and Rockford is roughly 70 miles. But over Thanksgiving weekend, that gap will disintegrate as the Wolves and IceHogs scrap for supremacy as Chicago's AHL team. The two Illinois Lottery Cup Rivals have already clashed once this season. On October 18, the IceHogs broke a 3-3 tie just 90 seconds before the final buzzer, earning a victory in the process. Now, the Wolves seek revenge in a post-Thanksgiving match-up that may have playoff implications later in the season, since both teams play as part of the same division. The rivalry adds another chapter the very next day when the two clubs collide again, only this time, the Wolves have to bring Thanksgiving leftovers to the IceHogs home ice.
Since their inception in 1994, the Chicago Wolves have never had a losing season. They took home the Turner Cup twice before the IHL folded, and since joining the AHL in the 2001–02 season, they have claimed the Calder Cup twice as well. As the team seeks to out-shoot opponents on the ice at Rosemont's Allstate Arena, lupine mascot Skates prowls the stadium to hand out high-fives, sign autographs, and lecture crowd members on the hazardous properties of silver.
