• $99 for one admission to a two-hour glass-ornament-making workshop with Jim Loewer
• This event is for adults only
• Upon purchase, you may schedule for one of the available dates
• You must reserve your date here in advance of the event
• Some previous experience is recommended for this class. It’s ideal for students who’ve taken Jim’s pendant-making class or have prior hands-on flameworking experience.

The workshop will be held at Jim’s studio in Center City/Italian Market, located in a building with 50-plus art studios.

Each event is capped at 4 purchasers.

What You’ll Do

Despite its inherent delicacy, glass is forged in a flurry of flame and muscle. During his 2- to 2.5-hour class, professional glassblower Jim Loewer will help experienced flameworkers add some more advanced techniques to their glassblowing grab bag. With torches flaming and an oven glowing at thousands of degrees, he teaches participants just what it takes to turn glass into a hangable ornament.

  Use a torch, kiln, and glass-working tools to shape, blow, and color your own ornament.

• Take Your Treasure Home
  After cooling, ornaments can be toted home to dangle in a window, hang from a tree, or gift to a friend.

Jim Loewer initially considered paint his primary medium. But as a casual interest in glass art grew more serious, he swapped his brushes for a kiln and devoted himself to glassblowing full time. Today, Jim’s handcrafted glass housewares can be found in such outlets as Anthropologie, Uncommon Goods, and Barney’s New York, where his bowls were praised by the New York Times for their “eye-popping” impact and their “intense swirling colors.”
