Masters of Illusion

Some people say "I'll believe it when I see it," but there are times when even the eyes can't be trusted. In Masters of Illusion, five of the country's premier magicians put on a show thrilling enough to dazzle the senses and beguile even the most skeptical skeptic. Farrell Dillon kicks things off with groan-worthy puns and head-scratching conjuring acts, whereas Michael Giles is more of a mystic, transforming women into tigers and making people levitate using only a harp and an antigravity beam. Angela Acosta got into magic as an assistant, but today does all of the pyromancy and assistant-caging herself. Tom Burgoon, meanwhile, anchors the goofier side of magic with hypnotism and juggling. Rounding out the whole set it Rick Thomas, a flashy performer whose signature piece involves exotic birds.

The Lakeland Center

It's almost easier to count who hasn't played at the Lakeland Center than who has. Since the all-purpose venue opened in 1974, its many halls have seen such stars as Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, Jerry Seinfeld, Prince, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, and Kathy Gifford. Besides the top-tier lineup of music and comedy acts, The Lakeland Center also hosts theatrical productions, conventions and festivals, and seasonal ice skating for all ages.
