Much like confronting a former bully at a high-school reunion, golf is an empowering experience that requires an efficient swing and at least three friends to cheer you on. Take a stand against a shank-producing stroke with today's Groupon: for $45, you get a private single lesson and a practice session at GolfEd (a $95 value).
Led by founder Dave Stanley and PGA professional instructor Fred Gibson, the staff at GolfEd uses simulators and replay monitors to help golfers of all skill levels improve their games. Eschewing the intricate steps and madness-inducing non-Euclidean geometry of so many instructional videos and teachers, GolfEd centers its philosophy on simplicity—paring your swing down to a graceful, pendulous fwoosh, then having you rehearse it until you can repeat it at will. Each half-hour private lesson takes place indoors in a controlled environment in which club-wielders can examine every swing as it is instantly replayed on the playback monitor.
A launch screen and simulator recreates any condition golfers might face on an actual golf course, except for those times when a caddy starts oversharing about their rash. In addition to having your stroke finely tuned by an instructor, a practice session lets you work on your power drives with the simulator before heading to the putting room to finesse your short game.
Skyward swingers who don't own their own golf clubs can use GolfEd's equipment free of charge. GolfEd is open Monday–Saturday, but it is closed on Sundays so that the staff can work on their post-birdie high-fiving technique.

About GolfEd
Golf instructor Dave Stanley has seen just about every type of golf swing imaginable. His golf academy, GolfEd, is an indoor golf studio where Dave's instincts for swing imbalances work in symphony with launch monitors and video swing technology used to analyze swings without missing a late hip turn or the overpronation of a vestigial tail.
Golf Ed's philosophy hinges on helping golfers build a simple, effective swing that they can commit to muscle memory and reproduce under any conditions. The facility also hosts independent practice sessions, during which guests can overcome the yips on the indoor putting green.
