The Issue: Identifying Unfair vs. Illegal Workplace Practices
Though public media often displays examples of employees being mistreated at work, there is a sharp difference between unfair and illegal workplace practices. Because Florida is a right-to-work state, employees can quit or be fired for any reason. Employees should understand their rights so they can identify when they are protected from mistreatment under the law and should take action.
The Campaign: Teaching Students About Employee Rights
If this Grassroots campaign raises $200, then At Will 4 U can sponsor an employee-rights workshop for high-school students. Each additional $200 raised will fund another workshop. The workshop will target high-school seniors who are preparing to enter the job market. Staff members will discuss employment laws and provide brochures to help raise awareness and equip students to handle complicated workplace situations.
You can follow the progress of this and other Grassroots campaigns at the Groupon Grassroots website.
