The Issue: Lack of Access to Gyms in Pontiac

In the last 10 years, the Pontiac Board of Education has allowed the Pontiac Cobras Basketball Organization to use its school gyms at no cost. Due to the school system's current budget deficit, however, the schools now want to charge the organization for use of the gyms.

The Campaign: Host Basketball Camps for Inner-City Boys

If this Grassroots campaign raises $500, then Pontiac Cobras Basketball Organization can sponsor a basketball camp for 20 inner-city boys in second–eighth grades. At the camps, kids learn basketball fundamentals and coaches emphasize the importance of a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and discipline. Each additional $50 raised will be used to help two more boys attend the camp.
