The Issue: Limited Access to Nature for Urban Kids
Youth living in underserved or low-income neighborhoods often have limited opportunities to travel away from their urban neighborhoods to explore Florida's wetlands, uplands, rivers, and wild beaches. On weekend or overnight camping trips hosted by Sierra Club Inner City Outings, children who might otherwise not have the opportunity to go camping can learn about nature and take in Florida's natural beauty.
The Campaign: Sponsoring Camping Trip for Inner-City Kids
If this Grassroots campaign raises $500, then West Palm Beach Inner City Outings can host a nature-focused overnight camping trip for 15 inner-city youths. Past field trips have included visits to the Everglades National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, and Myakka River State Park. Each additional $500 raised will sponsor another overnight camping trip for 15 inner-city youths.
