Although teachers have noted that art lessons and other creative outlets help increase students’ interest in other school subjects, arts-education programs are frequently cut from school budgets, particularly in lower-income schools.
Chicago Lost and Found provides visual-arts opportunities for children who no longer have creative outlets in their schools. Partnering with YMCA of Metro Chicago and Hawthorne Scholastic Academy, Chicago Lost and Found’s Creative Academy holds community art workshops and courses led by experienced instructors. The program’s Creative Studio repurposes unused or otherwise discarded materials to create sellable art that helps supplement community donations to fund the group’s programs.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help Chicago Lost and Found provide arts-education opportunities for students whose schools no longer have those types of programs. If G-Team members raise $600, then Chicago Lost and Found can hire instructors and provide supplies to fund a 12-week art-education course. Each additional $600 raised will be used to fund another 12-week art-education course.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100 percent off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
