In the 2009–10 school year, only 62% of Seattle public-school students could boast fewer than 10 absences from school. These school-truancy numbers, compounded with recent budget cuts, have motivated the city of Seattle and Seattle Public Schools to jumpstart the Be Here Get There campaign to amp up attendance. The Little Feet Foundation, in cooperation with the Be Here Get There campaign, aims to encourage school attendance by providing local schools with soccer balls.
The Seattle Public Schools system currently serves 45,800 students, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends that each child partake in 60 minutes of daily physical activity. By providing local schools with soccer balls, Little Feet endeavors to rejuvenate physical-education departments, while at the same time encouraging school attendance. In addition to establishing healthful exercise habits, playing soccer can teach students both teamwork and leadership—skills that often contribute to success in school.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help Little Feet provide Seattle Public Schools with soccer balls and encourage school attendance. If G-Team members raise $500, then Little Feet Foundation can donate 50 soccer balls to Seattle Public Schools. Each additional $10 raised will purchase another soccer ball.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
