Comforting packages help siblings of pediatric-cancer patients to cope during difficult time through newsletters, wristbands & trophies
While children with cancer typically receive waves of support from parents, family and friends, and the general public, the siblings of cancer patients also experience the stresses and fears of dealing with the disease, but often feel a special kind of isolation. According to data from Oncology Times, half of these siblings experience some of the symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder, and 25% fulfill the criteria for the disorder. SuperSibs! supports the siblings of pediatric-cancer patients with recognition and care packages to help inspire courage and strengthen their coping skills.
Working with a network of 350 pediatric hospitals and cancer organizations, SuperSibs! distributes Comfort and Care packages to sibling survivors aged 4–18 years with age-appropriate mailings and gifts. Each package includes coping tools such as journals, wristbands, courage trophies, newsletters, and activity books. Every year SuperSibs! distributes more than 29,000 packages, and each child receives several mailings throughout the year that aim to reduce depression and grief and help them heal in the face of major life changes.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to support siblings of pediatric-cancer patients. If G-Team members raise $300, then SuperSibs! can provide a year of comfort and care kits for six children. Each additional $50 raised will fund a year's worth of comfort and care kit mailings for another child.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
