Nearly 100,000 refugees live in Kenya's capital city, Nairobi, and refugee girls and young women face special vulnerability to rape, abuse, forced marriage, and HIV/AIDS. Heshima Kenya provides refugee minors in Nairobi with medical care, shelter, education, and economic support through a variety of programs. G-Team members who donate $45 to today's campaign will get a ticket to Heshima Kenya's Fashion Challenge event on July 26 at Room 1520, which will feature fashions crafted from the Maisha Collective's hand-dyed scarves.
Heshima Kenya's Safe House in Nairobi provides unaccompanied refugee minors with temporary shelter, emotional support, counseling, and medical attention. Many of the girls and young women who arrive at the safe house require medical care for pregnancy and an array of health conditions including malaria, epilepsy, typhoid, asthma, and pneumonia. Some of the young refugees have been sexually assaulted or otherwise abused.
Join G-Team and donate $10 or $45 to help Heshima Kenya provide refugee girls and young women in Nairobi with counseling, doctor's visits, pre- and postnatal care, and other medical support. If G-Team members raise $200, then Heshima Kenya can provide two women with medical care for one year. Each additional $100 will provide another woman with a year of medical care.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
