Youths across the country are engaging in projects for the greater good of their communities, from upstart charities to conservation efforts. These future role models, mentors, and activists need a platform from which they can share their passion for giving back to the world around them. Image of Change seeks out and showcases humanitarians through philanthropic brand management, highlighting the efforts of individuals in order to transform the way societies view charity.
In order to challenge the next generation of decision makers, journalists, and visionary activists, Image of Change's Covering the Mic program provides youths with the opportunity to develop and publicly promote their ability to create social change. Teens ages 14–18 explore their communities, searching out peers with enthralling stories of ethical responsibility that they can share with the public. Ten young reporters in five cities across the nation will learn to film and edit peer-to-peer interviews, interacting with and promoting social activism by creating short documentaries from their findings. Covering the Mic reporters each work with mentors, professional journalists, and broadcasters to strengthen their storytelling skills and demonstrate the untold power of youth movements.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help youths document stories of social change, with donations matched by Active Pilates. If G-Team members raise $250, Image of Change can procure one HD Flipcam and online editing software, enabling Covering the Mic youth reporters to share their stories online. Each additional $10 raised will contribute to the campaign’s overall goal of $2,500, which will fund 10 sets of cameras and software.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
