The Issue: Cost of Shoes for Rapidly Growing Feet
Because their feet grow rapidly, young children can go through up to three sizes in a year, forcing parents to buy multiple pairs of shoes. For families subsisting on a low income, shoes become a luxury item, competing with necessities such as food and housing expenses.
The Campaign: Distributing Shoes to Youth in Need
If 25 people donate $15 to this Grassroots campaign, then In Jacob’s Shoes can distribute new pairs of shoes to 25 underserved children. Each additional $15 raised will provide a pair of shoes for another child. Donations will be matched up to $500 by Stylebuilt Construction, Inc. In Jacob’s Shoes gave out 4,500 pairs of shoes during its 2012 back-to-school effort in Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade Counties—greatly depleting its stock of donated footwear. This Grassroots campaign will help the organization meet the needs of children during the winter and holiday season.
All donations will be matched up to a $500 total by Stylebuilt Construction, Inc.

In Jacob's Shoes
The Jacob S. Zweig Foundation, known as In Jacob’s Shoes, was founded in honor of Jacob S. Zweig, who was killed at age 17. Though his life was tragically short, he touched and inspired many people—compassion that the organization hopes to embody in its work providing new and gently used shoes and school supplies to low-income families year-round. The organization receives requests for donations from charities, school guidance counselors, teachers, and social workers. It also supports youth with scholarships for camp, athletic equipment, education, travel, and afterschool care.
