- Old-fashioned sweet shop
- Fresh, hand-paddled fudge
- Array of house-made delights
Mackinac Island fudge is prized all over the world, its rich taste calling to mind the mythical island as it was before its fudgy hubris caused it to sink beneath Lake Michigan. Delve into the Mitten State's sweetest delicacy with today’s Groupon: For $5, you get $10 worth of fudge and other house-made confections at Kilwin’s in Winter Park. Today's Groupon is not valid for ice cream or online orders.
The old-fashioned sweet shop’s owners Kurt and Jessica O’Brien carry on Kilwin’s rich, chocolaty North Michigan tradition of whipping up a mouth-moistening medley of confections. Most famous is the fudge (starting at $8 per half lb.), a symphony of the finest ingredients paddled to perfection on a marble slab in front of a spellbound audience of cowled fraternity members.
Every variety of fudge is easy to ship or catapult to even the most remote Antarctic research station, as fudge only melts when watching videos of puppies (Kilwin's does not ship, so you'd have to do so on your own). Kilwin's also conjures a variety of house-made confections, including rice krispies treats with milk, dark, or white chocolate ($3.25 each) and dark-chocolate-covered nutter butters ($1.50 each).
