Roosevelt at 2 a.m. Experience a mind-altering brain freeze with today's Groupon: for $5, you get $10 worth of liqueur ice cream at Lee's Cream Liqueur, located in Old Town Scottsdale.
Lee's Cream Liqueur is a local ice-cream shop that creates its liqueur ice cream by blending fine alcohols with heaps of hand-spun ice cream. The result is a refreshingly adult semi-alcoholic treat. After flashing a library card and being told that it's not an acceptable form of ID, sample a scoop of a premium-liqueur-laden tongue treat such as the margarita, Champagne, or strawberry daiquiri ($3.75 for a scoop, $5 for two scoops). A creamy lemon-drop flavor incorporates vodka into the mix whereas the chocolate swirl spikes things up with a dash of Jack Daniels. Non-alcoholic flavors are suitable for all ages and include matcha green tea, candy drop, and a classic, simplistic vanilla ($2.25 for a scoop, $4 for two scoops). Top it off with pecans, almonds, gummy bears, your own tongue, or chocolate chips.
Owner Lee Turner fashioned her adult-treat center after isolating herself inside an igloo for years of trials, tweaking, and being really cold. What resulted was a bona fide adult ice-cream shop, where kids and adults alike can sit and enjoy eye-widening frozen delights.
Must be 21 or older to enjoy liqueur-flavored ice creams.
Reviews
Lee's Cream Liqueur has been featured in the Arizona Republic twice and once in the Phoenix New Times' Chow Bella blog. Haute Living magazine rates it as one of the Top Five Ice Cream Shops in Phoenix, and eight Yelpers give it a 4.5-star average.
- I've never met Lee Turner, but I think she's a gal after my own heart. Why do I say that? She just opened her own ice cream parlor in Old Town Scottsdale, Lee's Cream Liqueurs, and she's got a great aesthetic, with a pink, brown, and white color palette and an adorable logo. – Michele Laudig, Chow Bella, Phoenix New Times
- Alcoholic ice cream in Old Town? Lee, you are a genius. Talk about looking at the demographic to figure out what fits best and liquor immersed in a frozen treat is it. – Lindsey F., Yelp
