Learning about science in a museum is safer than experiencing it first-hand by accidentally ingesting a science textbook. Embrace science with today’s Groupon for admission to exhibitions, a feature film in the Joseph D. Williams Science Theater or IMAX Theater, and Pulseworks Motion Simulator at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City. The Center opens for exploration Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Choose between the following options:
- For $14, you get an adult ticket (a $27.75 value).
- For $11, you get a senior (ages 62+) or junior (ages 2–12) (a $22.50 value).
A nonprofit science museum, Liberty Science Center features the nation’s largest IMAX dome screen and live science programs with audience participation, as well as traveling and permanent exhibitions. A dynamic, ever-changing exhibition gallery, Breakthroughs, transforms its interactive displays every three to four months to offer perspectives on science that’s currently making headlines. Permanent displays include exhibits on skyscrapers, the science of language, and animal-survival mechanisms, to name just a few of the mind-boggling expositions that kindly choose not to blind patrons with science. Turn your eyes skyward with included admission to the IMAX Dome Theater, which spins larger-than-life tales such as the space-themed Hubble, or experience the third dimension at the Joseph D. Williams Science Theater, currently showing Mummies 3D: Secrets of the Pharaohs. The Pulseworks Motion Simulator transports groups of up to eight underwater or into outer space without leaving the center’s grounds or having to fill your spacesuit with krill during five-minute full-sensory voyages.

Inside the pitch-black Touch Tunnel, you're completely blind. On your hands and knees, you crawl forward, relying solely on your other senses to lead you through the darkness. The tunnel is only 80 feet long, but the exit might as well be miles away. After finally emerging safe (and sighted) from the most popular exhibit at Liberty Science Center, a family could still spend four more hours at the many hands-on attractions and experiences designed to enlighten visitors about the power and fun of science.
Liberty Science Center houses a dozen galleries for interactive exploration. Visitors can step out onto the Infinity Climber, suspended 35 feet in the air; see how their skills stack up against a multi-sport simulator in Action Zone; or connect with more than 100 animal species, including giant fish, buzzing honey bees, and a family of tamarin monkeys. At I Explore, young scientists ages 2–5 learn about the world around them while launching colorful balls into the air or banging out tunes on a stone xylophone. Visitors can also catch the two-million volt Nikola Tesla Lightning Show. When it's time to relax, the whole family can visit the largest IMAX dome theater in the U.S., which transports onlookers from outer space to the deepest depths of the oceans and just about everywhere in between.
