Posters provide a more concrete way of recording moments than sketching portraits in sand or dictating memoirs to an empty jam jar. Preserve precious memories with today's Groupon: for $15, you get one 24"x18" Philly sports poster from LIONWORD Illustrations (a $30 value). This Groupon can be redeemed for one of four designs, some of which are stocked and sold in the National Baseball Hall of Fame gift shop. The prints depict Philadelphia legends shining amidst artfully arranged words and statistics. On one poster, artist Dan Duffy, whose stylishly scribbled illustrations have appeared in the pages of Golf Digest and ESPN magazines, reshapes Harry Kalas' Hall of Fame induction speech into an upraised arm and sportscaster's headset; in another, dates and scores from the Phillies' 1980 season form the glove of pitcher Tug McGraw as he leaps for joy during the team's World Series victory. The other posters available with today's Groupon commemorate the Phillies' 2008 championship season and the Flyers' 1974 Stanley Cup victory.
Dan Duffy has two passions —art and sports —that he pursues both personally and professionally. He played rugby at the university level, and after graduating from Hussian School of Art in 2006, he crafted illustrations for companies such as ESPN and Golf Digest. Now, he works as associate art director for PGA Magazine, and also creates sports-themed and custom artwork for Lionword. Customers can order "word" illustrations that fuse text and design, or opt for a portrait of a favorite Philadelphia athlete crafted entirely from the imprints of their teams' logo stamps.
