There is nothing better than learning from the pros, as evidenced by Socrates's mentorship of Plato and George Washington's mentorship of America. Get educated by an expert with today's Groupon: for $250, you can enroll a child in a two-hour fantasy camp with Chicago Bulls star Luol Deng (a $502 value), held on Sunday, May 22 from 1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. at Joy of the Game in Deerfield. This event is exclusive to Groupon purchasers and has a maximum attendance of 120 children.
Luol Deng, the philanthropic forward for the Chicago Bulls and 2007 recipient of the NBA's Central Division Sportsmanship Award, furthers his affinity for participating in events that promote recreation outlets for children by hosting an afternoon of skill-enhancing sports and inspirational orations. During the two-hour fantasy camp, Deng and a team of basketball instructors school kids aged 5–16 in both basketball fundamentals and blindfolded windmill dunks from halfcourt. For the first 40 minutes, Deng will walk among the fundamentals stations—located on four courts with eight hoops—and center-court dribbling and passing stations, offering his guidance and participating in the drills. After active energy has been adequately released, Deng will speak to the kids as a group about his experiences in the NBA and as a Bull, emphasizing the importance of working hard and staying in school. Pizzas from Edwardo's refuel participants who aren't battery-operated, before campers line up for an autograph session where each will walk away with his or her own autographed basketball and a high-five that will never wear off. With registration, each child can bring up to two spectators, who can view the day's activities from the bleachers and join the kids for lunch.
This event is subject to potential Bulls playoff games, practices, and travel schedule. If necessary, the camp would be rescheduled for two to three weeks later.
