Today's side deal gets you $90 toward any massage at Mill Valley Health Club & Spa for $45. Mill Valley is a full-service health club that CityVoter nominated for Best Gym in the Bay Area. The tranquil spa offers seven massage styles, and most cost $90 for an hour.
The Swedish massage ($90 for 60 minutes), a light- to medium-pressured technique, is the most popular type of therapeutic touchery. It aims to improve blood flow, stimulate the lymphatic system, relieve physical tension, and melt stress by using long, connective strokes and kneading. If you prefer a profounder pressure, try a deep tissue/sports massage ($100 for 60 minutes). Mill Valley's therapist will combine multiple modalities (facilitated stretching, Shiatsu, trigger point, etc.) with deep pressure to help heal, align, and protect musculature and fascia. Mill Valley also offers prenatal massage ($90 for 60 minutes), chair massage ($1 per minute for up to 30 minutes), or foot reflexology—a pressure technique that includes a soak, minty scrub, and lavish treatment mask with hot booties ($65 for 45 minutes).
Mill Valley's staff of certified therapists are experts in identifying the perfect points to melt muscular tension or sneak a car into a line of heavy traffic. Joey Hoeber, a graduate of the Ohashi Institute in New York City, has more than 30 years of experience and is a certified Shiatsu master. Gil Rutherford, a sports massage expert who has studied Chinese medicine at Lane College, is a certified chiropractic assistant. Call ahead to make an appointment; Mill Valley is open seven days a week.
- I really enjoyed spinnning and pilates, the teachers were great, and pushed me, just what I needed. Everyone was so friendly... I felt like I was on a cruise ship! go check it out! – mark c.
- The pilates classes I took were fun. The staff motivated me to get in shape. The fact that I could get a massage or other spa services made this place heavenly. – lynnie p.
