Greetings and welcome to our Modern Yoga shala in Scottsdale. We opened our doors in February 2016 to a very excited yoga community that had been without their studio because of a corporate buyout 5 years prior. Many teachers here at Modern Yoga have been teaching together for 15 years and the owner, John Salisbury, has been teaching in the Valley since 2000. His step-father, Dave Oliver, was one of the first teachers to come up in the 80’s and helped forge a strong foundation for years to come. He taught Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga out of his garage which he converted into a yoga studio and named it “Current Yoga.” Poetically, all these years later, Modern Yoga was born.

We have a proud & committed community, many of whom have been practising together for years. “Blessed” is how we feel about our students, teachers, and style, where you will find deep roots, a great vibe, and a constant thirst for knowledge that keeps us ever-evolving.
