If tea is the thinking person's coffee, then coffee is the tea for the thinking person's action hero. Caffeinate and consume with today's side deal: $5 for $10 worth of organic, fair-trade coffee and casual fare at Morning Glory Coffeehouse in Morningside. Open every day, Morning Glory features free WiFi, signature sips, and intimate live music.
Warm up with the Rhode Island coffeemilk latte ($3) or café con cocoa ($2.25). Lunch options include healthful fare such as the mo-glo hummus wrap ($4) with homemade hummus, feta, fresh tomatoes (or "vineapples"), manzanilla olives, and baby spinach. You'll also find veggie burritos, quiches, rotating soups, and paninis ($3.50–$5). For dessert, Morning Glory features iced coffee floats, sorbets, and ice creams ($2.50–$5), all of which can be mixed together to form a fleetingly beautiful snowpaste.
Charming décor (hobbit-themed signage, a vintage foosball machine, decorative wall art) gives the neighborhood caffeination station personality, while live events encourage loitering. Morning Glory is open Monday through Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- It's my "runner up" for best coffee in Pittsburgh (I had 2 lattes!). I think that says it all --- try it and you'll agree! Be sure to try their signature Rhode Island Coffeemilk Latte --- subtle but delicious. – Kelly McCormick, Sweet-Cakes & Milkshakes
- It has brought a community meeting place, a great place to have a healthy lunch, a great vibe, and last, but not least, some wonderful coffee to an up-and-coming neighborhood. Highlights for me are the veggie chili, the wide array of pescatarian sandwiches, bagels and snacks, the free fast Wi-Fi, and a welcoming and friendly staff and atmosphere. – Jason Sturgill, Urbanspoon
