Poetry would be comprised entirely of haiku and sonnets dedicated to cakes and pastries if poets didn't devour their idyllic subjects before having a chance to write. Today's Groupon says what meter and rhythm cannot: for $10, you get $20 worth of pastries, sandwiches, and cakes at Napoleon Bakery and Cafe.
Napoleon Bakery tantalizes taste buds with fluffy quiche, specialty cakes, flaky pastries, and savory lunch sandwiches made by James Holmes, whom The Pitch calls “one of KC's great pastry chefs.” Sitting at russet tables in the pale-green shop, diners can nibble the sugary icing, crispy crust, oozing cream, and sliced strawberries of a slice of cake or bite into layers of big-eye swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and pastrami in a pastrami sandwich ($8.50). Inside a sparkling glass case, saccharine cinnamon rolls sit snugly with chocolate croissants and other baked-daily treats.
