What was the inspiration to start or run this business?

I moved from Argentina to the USA when I was 18. Not knowing how to speak English and without friends, I started going to salsa clubs. I felt immediately welcomed and drawn by the positive vibe of the environment. It was hard for me to learn how to dance and people would make fun of me but I was persistent. Eventually, I got better and a hobby became my career. Dance has changed my life and I met amazing people there. It has given me confidence, help me feel like I belong, it helped my health and to stay in shape. I made me feel like a place where I can have fun and at the same time socialize. It was hard for me so, my thing is making it easy for beginners since I connect with them as it was really hard for me. Dancing uplifts me and I believe in its power to bring something fun and sportive to everyone’s life.

What do you love most about your job?

Meeting people, exercising without feeling like I am working out. I also love how it changes life. Especially those who come from divorce or other life-changing situations. Dance brings them to a happy place and seeing those changes make me happy. I like how people are in a great mood while they dance, no matter what happened before, at class and dance party, everyone is happy.

What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?

All of our students continue to bring business to us through the experience they have at OC Salsa. I had people saying thank you for saving my life from depression, or people who invited me to their wedding because they met at our class. Most people nowadays bring their comments to yelp where we got 5 starts ratings or here in Groupon as well. The best thing someone said is that OC salsa is like their salsa family."
