Wear comfortable shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather. There is limited heat or air conditioning. Our family loves to go every year. Each time, there is more to see and learn. The submarine is NOT for those who have claustrophobia. The additional display and Vietnam encampment do add to the whole experience and give an appreciation for the sacrifices of our service menand women

great place to visit... Showing kids pieces of history instead of just talking about it is amazing, My 7 year old son had a blast seeing the planes and exploring the ships!

What You'll Get

Most battleships are lost forever after being sunk by large red pegs descending from the heavens. Witness these maritime beasts in rare form with today's deal: for $18, you get two tickets to the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum (a $36 value).

Visitors to Patriots Point can walk through the Balao-class submarine Clamagore, view the Congressional Medal of Honor Museum, and see a Vietnam base camp replica. After walking the stars-and-stripes-lined pier, explorers can take a self-guided tour on six different routes, climbing through the alabaster halls and gleaming ladders of the USS Yorktown, a 42,000-ton, 888-foot aircraft carrier, complete with tableaus of the captain’s quarters, displays of navy uniforms, and a detailed history of the USS Yorktown’s participation in WWII. Once reaching the flight deck, guests can gaze at the warplanes and helicopters lining the vista of the floating tarmac, including an AH-1J Cobra, an F4F Wildcat, and an A-4C Skyhawk. Patriots Point is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

TripAdvisors give the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum an average rating of 4.5 owl eyes, and more than 60 give the USS Yorktown at the museum an average of five owl eyes. Three Yelpers give the museum a perfect five-star rating, and four Judy's Book reviewers give it an average of five stars:

  • …there is far more ship to see at the Yorktown, including going inside a diesel submarine, a replica Vietnam camp, the Medal of Honor musuem [sic], and the Cold War submarine memorial. – mdiv2001 about USS Yorktown, TripAdvisor
  • I am NOT into ships, submarines, aircraft, etc...but after visiting Patriots Point, I have a whole new respect and admiration for naval history. – foodnwhine about Patriots Point, TripAdvisor
