Pet owners who are elderly, homebound, or have a serious illness are at risk of losing their pets due to an inability to provide their pets with necessities such as food, vet visits, grooming, and daily exercise. At the same time, however, it is these variables that make pets such a crucial source of companionship for these individuals.

PAWS NY, established in 2008, provides pet care assistance to these New Yorkers who have the potential of losing their pets. The organization partners with other New York City based non-profits to identify those in need of its services. Next, trained volunteers visit clients in their homes and provide services such as dog walking, cat litter maintenance, assistance transporting their pet to and from the vet, and referrals to other pet-related services and social services. Pet food and supplies are also available on a limited basis through the PAWS Pet Pantry.

Join G-Team and donate $11 to start an emergency pet care fund for PAWS NY. This fund will enable that pets stay with their owners by covering pet care expenses that their clients with limited mobility and fixed incomes find logistically and cost-prohibitive. With a little help, these people can keep their pets. Supporting this campaign also helps reduce the number of pets surrendered to already overcrowded NYC animal shelters and reduces the number of older, but otherwise healthy, pets that are euthanized.
