Working out is No. 3 on the list of most popular daily activities in America, behind not working out and teaching dogs to swear. Spend your time wisely with today's Groupon: for $40, you get three group classes at Pilates Plus Pacific Beach (a $105 value).
Pilates Plus Pacific Beach's team of Pilates pros sculpts bodies during high-intensity SPX fitness classes that combine weight training and traditional Pilates exercises. During 40-minute sessions, students develop strength and improve their cardio fitness using a Proformer machine, which works the upper and lower body muscles through a system of springs and pulleys. While old-school routines, including pushups and lunges, tone the body, support from the Proformer machine keeps pressure off the joints and spine so that elbows don't go on strike in the middle of putting a warthog in a headlock. The Pilates component of the workout lengthens and enhances posture through circuit training, all the while keeping heart rates up and burning calories. The fitness-fickle can cycle through any of Pilates Plus' classes, including SPX Total Body, Body & Barre, the geologically inspired Rock Out, and more.
Students perform at a level of intensity suitable to their abilities, as the workout can be adjusted to ensure that all exercisers reach the point of muscle fatigue without pushing themselves too far. Music pours from speakers during the regimens, keeping the energy up and scaring off ghosts with poor senses of rhythm. The studio holds classes seven days a week, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings. View the schedule here by clicking on the Pilates SPX Group Classes tab.

About Pilates Plus Pacific Beach
A team of passionate instructors—which earned its business CityVoter's 2011 award for Best Pilates Studio—expands Pilates' scope to include more muscle groups than just the core. To do this, the team combines traditional Pilates exercises with strength and cardiovascular training to create invigorating workouts for the entire body. During each class, teachers help students tone core and limb muscles with specialized equipment such as the Proformer, which uses a system of pulleys and spring resistance to bolster strength. To boost sweat-session efforts, they encourage a calorie-burning pace by blaring energetic music and replacing all water fountains with pixy-stick stations. Because their low-impact sessions focus on achieving proper form and minimizing the risk of injury, they push students of all skill levels to complete the rigorous workouts despite their intensity.
