According to the National Institute of Justice, one in six women and 1 in 33 men in the United States will experience domestic or sexual violence in her or his lifetime. Many survivors of such violence do not share their experiences out of fear of reprisal, judgment, or disbelief. Portland Women's Crisis Line provides aid to domestic- and sexual-abuse survivors by hosting support groups that focus on healing and empowerment, in which participants can share their stories and learn strategies to help them cope with violent experiences.
Portland Women's Crisis Line provides a 10-week group therapy session that is open to any individual seeking help. Group therapy sessions take place at a safe location, are facilitated by therapists, and invite around 10 participants per session to share their experiences with the group. Each session also includes supplementary materials that, in conjunction with therapeutic counseling, can assist survivors with strategies to help them cope with anxiety. The Portland Women's Crisis Line provides supportive group therapy sessions to approximately 350 individuals each year.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help the Portland Women's Crisis Line provide group therapy for survivors of sexual violence. If G-Team members raise $500, Portland Women's Crisis Line can fund one 10-week group therapy session, including therapist facilitators, space, and group materials. Each additional donation will go towards funding another 10-week session.
