The Summer Euro Hockey Tour runs August 3–17. Airfare is not included. One family member per player is invited to join the tour with the purchase of an additional Groupon.
Under the guidance of four instructors, kids travel throughout Europe, exploring Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava, and Prague, while stopping to hone their hockey prowess. The players practice power skating, shooting, passing, stick handling, hitting, and scoring moves during 10 hours of ice time in Edmonton and 13 in Europe. They spend six hours of off-ice time learning from Olympic team coaches, and put their knowledge to the test in a minimum of five scrimmages against European minor-league teams. Students receive a practice jersey and team uniform, access to a psychologist and nutritionist, and two meals a day throughout the trip.
Groups explore Europe through side trips such as castle tours and build camaraderie during barbecues, bonfires, an opening party, and an autograph session with NHL stars. Players stay at three- and four-star hotels, including the New York Ranger’s Marián Gáborik’s MG Rink and Hotel in Trencin, Slovakia, and three nights at the Aquapalace Hotel in Prague, Czech Republic, which is home to three indoor water parks.
