Designed by three-time U.S. Open champion Hale Irwin in 1986, Quail Creek consistently challenges golfers as one of St. Louis’s most challenging and rewarding courses. With four sets of tees measuring from 5,500–7,000 yards, the course‘s narrow bermuda fairways weave through natural streams and rolling hills, creating a mulchified monster with a slope rating of 141 out of a possible 155 from the back tees. Diverse in both its landscape and its challenges, much of the course encourages risk-and-reward scenarios, tempting players to cut across an otherwise lengthy dogleg to reach the ninth green in two strokes and introducing levers at every tee that either award automatic birdies or unleash a flock of angry falcons.
