The first customers Ray's Ice Cream served wore poodle skirts and letterman jackets and sipped drinks from the soda fountain. Ray's has been a part of the Royal Oak community since 1958—and it's been run by the same family, the Stevens family, the entire time. When they're not in school, the great-grandchildren of the original owners now scoop ice cream, sorbet, and sherbet, including chocolate malt crunch and blue moon ice cream. Ray's creamy creations can also be found in grocery stores and restaurants in the surrounding areas.
