The monumental strain of homelessness is even greater for women with children, who face the challenge of protecting youngsters in an unsafe environment and can run the risk of separation. Saint Louise House provides Austin-area moms and their kids with housing and other essential services as they strive to emerge from homelessness.
Inside two Saint Louise House complexes, communities of women live in 46 apartments while they work or attend school to transition into independence. Since 2000, the organization has helped guide more than 100 families out of homelessness, including teachers, musicians, students, and store clerks who range in age from 18 to 52. Saint Louise House provides case management, a variety of life-skills workshops, counseling, and job coaching from Goodwill Employment Services. Each woman pays income-based rent for an average of two to three years and uses donated furnishings that she can bring with her to her next residence. While community donations provide items such as tables and sofas, Saint Louise House needs brand-new beds for incoming women and their children.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help purchase new beds for mothers and children transitioning out of homelessness. For every $125 G-Team members raise, Saint Louise House can purchase a brand-new bed for one of its residents.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
