What You'll Get
Dance can express what words cannot, whether it's the triumphant joy in a football player's post-touchdown pirouette or the passionate tango used to notify roommates that the basement is flooding. Transmit tidings with twinkling toes thanks to today’s Groupon: for $25, you get five beginner lessons (a $50 value) at Salsa Memphis. Director Edgar Mendez boasts more than a decade of international dance experience, helping rug-cutters of all sharpness and ability levels to bottle the fiery motions of Latin dance during each one-hour beginner salsa class. After donning a pair of slick shoes and clothing that doesn’t impede seductive motions, budding hoofers take on basic salsa steps, turns, and patterns during lessons offered at the Brookhaven Circle or Walnut Grove Road studio. Students will leave with muscles stretched, confidences boosted, and an arsenal of dance moves showcasing fancier footwork than a tap-dancing centipede.

About Salsa Memphis
At Salsa Memphis, renowned dancer and choreographer Edgar "TunTun" Mendez leads each lesson, deploying skills he attained through years of dancing as a professional, performing onstage with Tito Puente and onscreen for Marc Anthony, as well as in salsa congresses and competitions. Within his airy, yellow-walled studio, Mendez shows students of all ages and ability levels how to perform a range of fast-paced, seductive salsa moves, beginning with basic steps, right and left turns, and cross-body leads. Intermediate and advanced lessons are designed for those ready to move on to more complex combinations, such as how to dip a partner in an airplane aisle. A private lesson bestows fledgling dancers with focused one-on-one time with the salsa professor for quicker learning and personalized tips. Lessons can be taken at the student's convenience, allowing dancers to learn on their own time as opposed to adhering to a weekly schedule.
