Engaging with the arts can bolster kids' self-esteem and sense of community, as well as helping them to express themselves in positive ways. She Rock She Rock empowers young girls in an annual summer day camp called Girls Rock and Roll Retreat (G.R.R.R.), which includes music lessons, art classes, and a rock-concert performance.
G.R.R.R. campers ages 9–17 learn stage basics, form a band, and write and perform songs on a variety of instruments including electric guitar, bass guitar, drum, and keyboard. By engaging girls in a creative environment, She Rock She Rock aims to help them to build self-confidence, find role models, facilitate a more positive image of girls and women, and support each other by working together. On the last night of camp, newly minted musicians perform in a live rock concert for family and friends. A week of rock camp usually costs $395, but She Rock She Rock offers camp scholarships to make its services accessible to girls who would not otherwise be able to afford to go. However, as a nonprofit, the organization relies on donations in order to make scholarships available.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help She Rock She Rock offer a scholarship to a young girl who would not otherwise afford to attend Girls Rock and Roll Retreat. If G-Team members raise $395, the organization can sponsor one girl to attend its five-day rock 'n' roll camp. Each additional $395 raised will sponsor a week of rock camp for another girl.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
