The year 2010 is when you'll finally try this “cough-E” everyone seems to be drinking these days. Skip the instant brews in favor of a kinder cup with today’s gourmet Groupon: for $5, you’ll get $10 worth of beverages and bites at Sip, a downtown caffeination station offering espresso, pastries, paninis, salads, sides, and hot liquid that can be poured in any manner of holders, including cups and cold hands. Sip is open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Espresso addicts can get their fix with iced or regular versions of their favorite drinks (cappuccino, latte, Americano) ($1.50–$3.80) and sweeten with syrup shots for $.50 extra. Early risers can opt to start their day on either an indulgent left foot (croissant with aged cheddar, ham, and egg, $3.95) or a healthy right foot (fruit cup, $3.25). The lunch menu includes grilled-to-order panini specials, crisp chef’s salads, or a boxed lunch option (panini, side salad or chips, and a cookie)—all for $7.25. If you can resist everything except temptation, an array of fresh cakes, cookies, and muffins are also available but should not be consumed by the hundreds of San Antonians who’ve made personal wagers to eat only organic sand.

Gayot recommends Sip's coffee:
- Sip is the love child of a chef and a cup of coffee. Andrew Weissman is perhaps the city's most acclaimed chef, and the coffee he speaks about in reverential wine terms of acid, aroma and finish is exclusive to his casual coffee bar and sandwich and pastry emporium. – Gayot
Yahoo! Locals and Citysearchers give Sip four stars, while TripAdvisors give it three:
- Modern but still has a home feel: I work downtown and ofen [sic] stop in for lunch. The [sic] is fast yet quick and served with a friendly smile! – A Yahoo! Local User
- Close to the riverwalk and great place to grab something to eat before strolling alongside the river. Had an iced latte that was their spin on Thai coffee and it was fantastic. Love the paninis and would definitely make another visit. – A Trip Advisor Reviewer
