Personal training is much more than detailed instruction on how to be an actual person. Achieve your fitness goals in a one-on-one setting with today's Groupon: for $99, you get a sports-performance evaluation and three training sessions at Sports Performance Group (a $430 value).
Led by Jude Massillon, a Level 3 coach of USA Track and Field and trusted counselor to Olympians and NFL players, Sports Performance Group takes a scientific approach to improving athletic performance. In a little over an hour, a biomechanical evaluation that features a kinetic-chain point assessment helps trainers identify any issues with athletes' natural body motions or senses of balance. Coaches then draw up workouts based on both the results of the evaluation and the trainee's primary sport, so lacrosse players work on speed and agility and runners work on not tying their shoelaces to battleship anchors. Each training session lasts an hour and starts with a flexibility warm-up before revving up to speed training and plyometrics.
Not just for elite athletes, the training can be adapted to fit sport cavorters of all ages and skill levels, including middle- and high-schoolers. Trainers give homework assignments so that athletes can stay sharp between sessions, and clients take home nutrition handouts to reference whenever they can't remember whether they're supposed to gnaw on power cords.
