What You'll Get
Art is hard, especially when fortified by the flames of a sintering kiln. Make a piece of sturdy ceramic eye candy with today's Groupon: for $17, you get $34 worth of self-painted ceramics for two people at The Glazery in Missouri City. The Glazery is closed on Mondays.
The Glazery is chock-full of more than 1,000 different ceramic pieces, serving as waiting canvases for paintbrush-wielding patrons. Friends, couples, and enemies stuck together after a terrible rubber-cement accident can select a paintbrush and a multitude of paint colors to breathe life into white ceramic shapes. Containers shaped like cupcakes, owls, and donuts ($15.70 each) can be painted any hue of the rainbow, and customers can create a ceramic menagerie by painting winks and smirks on animal figurines ($15.70 each). The Glazery also carries authorized Disney figurines ($17.55 each), allowing artists to give Minnie an updated frock and Mickey a full-body dye job. The cost of the ceramic piece covers everything except for tax, and post-kiln projects will be ready for pickup about a week after being painted.
