About The Mat
Jan Long and Barb Oviatt, owners of The Mat in Liberty Lake, bring their own fitness specialties to the gym, which has won or been a finalist in the Spokane CityVoter. Best of Spokane awards every year since 2012. Long specializes in Baptiste-style power yoga, an intensive practice that builds strength and flexibility. She offers modifications on her exercises, of course, and teaches plenty of classes that focus on gentle, restorative postures. Oviatt, on the other hand, brings 30 years of experience in taekwondo to the table, so it's no surprise that she teaches classes in kickboxing. She also focuses on health and nutrition, advising clients to only eat foods they can lift without any help.
