About TheMetrodomeRoof.com
After a two-day blizzard in December of 2010, the inflatable roof of the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome began to leak and sink before finally collapsing under the weight of incessant snow. Video footage of the fall from inside the dome went viral, stunning football fans nationwide.
Rather than bemoaning the loss, local sports fan Guy Nelson decided to find a way to preserve the rich history of the arena, which had hosted many historic games of baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and foam-finger keep away. To do this, as well as prevent tons of Teflon material rotting in a landfill, he purchased the salvageable slices of the fallen roof and turned them into limited-edition memorabilia of past stars, championships, and the dome itself.
