What You'll Get
Crafting your way into someone's cupboard is the craftiest way into his or her heart. Create a heartfelt cupboarding pass with today's deal: for $10, you get $20 worth of paint-your-own pottery at The Painted Plate in the Huebner Commons Shopping Center.
The Painted Plate’s pottery studio allows art-driven guests to customize a variety of pre-made ceramic pieces with personalized paint patterns. Although pottery painting usually takes at least an hour, customers are welcome to use as much time as they need to complete their work. The studio fee ($5 or $8.50, depending on the size of your selected piece) includes firing and all the paints, tools, and supplies necessary for ensuring that your piece will be vibrant and your grandchildren will be independently wealthy. Decorate your choice of the studio’s fine wares—from coffee mugs, platters, and popcorn bowls to vases, candy dishes, and more (most pieces cost between $10 and $15)—with a pastiche of Rockwellesque imagery or doll up a few obscure charms that will keep your hutch safe during tornadoes.
The Painted Plate is open every day except Tuesday, which is when the landlord checks to make sure his tenants aren’t operating painting studios on his property. If the studio doesn’t have the ceramic style you want to paint, they’ll scour the earth until it’s found. All completed works are food-, oven-, and dishwasher-safe; however, The Painted Plate recommends hand washing to help preserve your piece of art for as long as possible.
