Children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder can face unique challenges as they progress through life, most notably in the realm of social interaction. The child’s heightened or dulled reactions to stimuli and difficulty accessing language can result in the avoidance of many forms of recreation, limiting the child’s interpersonal relationships and leaving parents without resources to assist in their child’s development. Under the Umbrella is a fully staffed drop-off play center that enables children with an autism spectrum disorder to interact with others in a safe and caring environment.
Under the Umbrella focuses solely on providing children on the autistic spectrum a place where they can receive sensory stimulation and play with other children who share in their needs. The center’s highly energetic and trained staff takes full care of each child, allowing parents to conduct errands or have time to themselves without worrying if their child is able to handle the activities or if they are being properly supervised. While the center does keep parental costs manageable, many families do not have discretionary income to spend on Under the Umbrella’s services. To assist families in need, Under the Umbrella offers a sponsorship program, giving those who cannot afford the service the chance to enjoy 10 hours a month of Under the Umbrella care.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help sponsor an autistic spectrum disorder child’s developmental playtime at Under the Umbrella. The center’s goal of $600 will allow six children to enjoy Under the Umbrella’s play center for one month, with each additional $10 sponsoring another hour per month.
