Urban Dog has an average rating of 4.5 stars on Yelp:
- Drank some really great coffee and even had my coffee refilled by the really nice bartender... All in all, mellow, chill, good coffee. – Cristy P.
- I'm a fan, not only of the location and the drinks (I have chai lattes and have tried a smoothie) but the staff is pleasant, some super friendly, they're pet friendly and also have wifi (what's with all of the coffee shops not offering wifi?) I just moved back to town and have been here nearly everyday [sic]. – Courtney P.
- This is a great place to grab a cup of quality coffee or tea if you're out and about with your canine friend. Prices are on-par with Starbucks and Seattle's Best, but the environment is pretty different! – Jill S.
Coffee Warning For Dogs
While Urban Dog is a pet-friendly coffee shop, it acknowledges that dogs shouldn't be allowed to drink coffee since it causes gigantism and an obsession with intractable moral dilemmas. These effects were first noticed in 1955, when University of Michigan biologist Newton Morell let his dog sip from his coffee cup, causing the beagle to become 15-feet tall and clearly vexed at philosophical questions, such as "Why do bad things happen to good people?"
To recreate these effects in his bedroom decorated to look like a laboratory, Morell dressed men in dog costumes, blindfolded them, and filled their man-dog dishes with fair-trade Columbian coffee from Puerto Vallarta. All 25 of Morell's man-dog contestants became exactly 150 times larger and 300 times more likely to agonize over Sophie's Choice.
