We did the Behind the Plaques Historical Walking Tour and it was a fantastic experience. Our guide, Bob, was amazing: he explained everything so clearly, gave us plenty of time for photos, answered all our questions, and really brought Savannah’s history to life. A detail we absolutely loved was that, knowing we are cat lovers, he even took us to visit the cat-themed bookstore – such a special and personal touch! We highly recommend this tour to discover the city in an engaging and well-informed way.

Expect to walk and learn about the rich history of Savannah, Georgia. House of Clayton was polite and knowledgeable and we really enjoyed walking the squares and learning about them.

I had a lovely walk around Savannah, by chance alone with my guide, for two whole hours. He was very enthusiastic and told me a lot about the city, which has an interesting history. He also explained about ghost energy here... Anyway what come to my mind is that a visit to an American city cannot be compared to Italy, which boasts a much longer and richer history ;)

My husband and I just went on the Plaques tour with Ben tonight. What a GREAT walking tour around the historical landmarks in central Savannah. As it turned out, we were the only two on the tour. It was a perfect type of historical tour for my husband, who is known to our family as the one who has to stop and read any historical plaque that he comes across. It was such an enjoyable time to learn, ask questions and glean from Ben's knowledge. HIGHLY recommend booking this tour.

We met Brian, our tour guide, at Chippewa Square where he spent about 15 minutes telling us about Oglethorpe and his background up to the founding of Savannah. From there, we walked around several blocks while he pointed out homes, who lived there, and their significance (including General Sherman in the Civil War). The study of the houses that used ground up oyster shells for concrete was exceptionally interesting. However, I expected the tour to cover more of the historical waterfront area, or the City Hall. We never came within 2 blocks of either. Very little was mentioned of the slave trade coming through Savannah either. It was still a good tour, but I'd only use it to supplement other tours. It appeared the hop on, hop off was covering more of the town than our walking tour.
