This Christmas season we decided to take the “Christmas on Benefit street” tour with Providence Ghost Tours. We tried to go last year but the weather force us to cancel our plans. We were so pleased that we rebooked the tour for this year. Our family has taken the Ghost Tour and we’re very excited about all the ghostly history that we learned. Our adult children have since taken a group of their friends all of which could not say enough about the experience as well as their guide for the tour. As far as the Christmas tour goes we could not have been more impressed with our guide Courtney. Her wealth of knowledge and the presentation that she brings to the tour was incredible. She really brought you back in time to Christmas past in Providence. Both her stories and her historical props really give you a feeling of what Christmas was like in the 1700 and 1800’s. When next year’s Christmas season rolls around and your looking for something fun to do with your family and/or friends we highly recommend booking the “Christmas on Benefit Street”tour. You will not be disappointed. Also the all year long “Providence Ghost Tour” will certainly be a great experience for everyone. Thank you Courtney for your dedication to the history of Providence and bringing us along with you.

Our company has been a member of the Providence community for nearly two decades. Our company is a walking, haunted history tour of Providence's College Hill neighborhood. Our guides lead guests by lantern light as we explore the history, mystery, legends, and lore of our city. Learn about different types of hauntings, our spirits' most current activities, and the dark tales that have been forgotten over time. Our tour is a wonderful blend of history and mystery, perfect for believers and skeptics alike! The tour includes a portion of College Hill. We have chosen the most walkable route, but it is indeed a hill and our streets are old. Please wear shoes that are comfortable and stable. It is also outdoors, so be sure to dress for the weather.

Departure Point

  • Please meet your guide at Prospect Terrace Park, located at 60 Congdon St. Providence. Enter the park and go to the statue that overlooks the city, where your lantern-carrying, black garb-wearing guide will meet you. Get ready to enjoy a stunning view as we begin our journey.

I live in Providence and can tell you these tours are a must do for locals and visitors alike! Another local friend and I did the Christmas on Benefit Street History Tour, and we had a blast. Courtney is so lovely and knows her stuff. I thought she was a history professor! Benefit Street is iconic around here and has so much historical New England aesthetic charm. Taking this tour with Courtney made it all the more rich and meaningful to be lucky enough to live here. AND she dresses the part in a beautiful velveteen Victorian woman holiday dress (and doesn't wear gloves in 20 degree weather so that she can keep pulling little historical goodies and artifacts from her bag to share along the way). I have done the seasonal ghost tours, as well, and can tell you they are all fantastic and rich with accurate history of this region. This is worth your time while here!

Cait made the experience fun! We learned alot, it was well paced, we got to see beautiful architecture and learn about the city too. She was personable, funny, and made the tour fly by! I would absolutely recommend checking out next time you are in the area.

Did the same tour last year. Last year's the guide sold the stories as being more eerie. This year's guide was more tongue-in-cheek. One isn't necessarily better than the other, just depends on what you prefer.

This was such a fantastic way to spend a crisp autumn evening in Providence! So many great stops with great stories at each and some more along the way. Leo had great energy and had everyone in our tour group fully invested. I highly recommend this tour to anyone even slightly interested in the paranormal or even anyone just interested in learning a bit more of the off beat history of this great city.
