The VIP tour is such a cool experience! You start off with a great walking history tour to check out the fort and the guide tells you about their personal experiences too. There’s a sit down around Robert the Doll which is fascinating and you can choose whether or not to say hi and take your pic with Robert. You definitely have to see him in person to appreciate all the stories. After that we get to stay in the fort for an hour to ghost hunt on our own! We checked out every part of the fort (even the unsettling Citadel). We had the best luck communicating with “something” using the pendulum but they provided a lot of equipment to ghost hunt. Highly recommend!!

Stop At: Fort East Martello Museum

The ghost tour includes a 60-minute guided ghost tour followed by 60 minutes of hunting ghosts on your own. The experience takes place inside Key West's haunted Fort East Martello Museum where you will learn the haunted history of the Civil War fort and meet the infamous Robert the Doll. The first 40 minutes of the tour are on foot. Short walks between rooms at an easy pace followed by a 20-minute sitdown with Robert the Doll. After the guided hour, VIP ticket holders have an hour to hunt ghosts on their own with access to the former Yellow Fever hospital (VIP exclusive). The VIP Experience includes the use of ghost-hunting equipment like K-2 Meters, spirit dowsing rods, spirit boxes, and trigger objects. There is time at the end to take photos with Robert the Doll if you are feeling brave.

The host was pleasant, approachable, and very knowledgeable. He set the tone for the experience. Unfortunately, we had no activity from the spirits, but the place was sufficiently creepy at night.

The things I do for love. My 20 year old granddaughter and I are on a girls get-away and she absolutely begged me to take the VIP tour. I did and loved it. I don't believe in ghosts nor of Robert's ability to terrorize, but the experience of exploring the Martello in the dark with only a flashlight was amazing. The historical past of this old fort, turned Yellow Fever hospital was fascinating. Come and explore! You won't be sorry.
