Tennis is often perceived as a white-collar game, primarily due to its historical association with British noblemen and the tendency for upper-class cocktail parties to devolve into raucous five-setters. Prove your on-court mettle with today's Groupon: for $34, you get six Tennis in No Time adult group tennis lessons (a $68 value) at Washington Township Schools' Community Tennis Program.
With more than four decades of experience training aspiring Agassis and Everts, the Washington Township tennis gurus impart expert wisdom to help pupils improve their lime-smashing skills. The adults-only Tennis in No Time lessons are designed to acquaint racquet-wielders with basic tennis mechanics and rules as well as guide them through a rigorous seminar on the etymology of tennis's unusual scoring system. During the one-hour lessons, serve-and-volley squires learn techniques such as the low-to-high-groundstroke form, proper volley footwork, and how to intimidate line judges.
Held at Washington Township's 30-court complex, the Barbara S. Wynne Tennis Center at North Central High School, the Tennis in No Time lessons provide an ideal way to enjoy the outdoors and best fellow ball sluggers with a well-struck crosscourt forehand. Classes will be offered during morning and evening sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays from June 6 to June 22 and on Tuesday and Thursdays from July 5 to July 21. Washington Township can be flexible to work around scheduling conflicts, such as family duties or daily commitments to a full-contact bingo league.
