About Westwood Karate
As a third-degree black belt with nearly two decades of experience, Sensei Brian Purves boasts enough expertise to train advanced martial artists. But he chooses to spend the majority of his time teaching kids’ classes at Westwood Karate. Pupils between the ages of 6 and 12 master karate’s self-defense techniques under the sensei’s direction; some even continue on to compete in tournaments. Sensei Purves also leads kick-boxing classes for adults, corralling kickers in a space that evokes the vibe of an empty warehouse with industrial-looking lights instead of shimmering disco balls that would distract minds from the task at hand.
